Matar Paneer Recipe : Flavorful Vegetarian Dish

Matar Paneer is a delicious vegetarian dish from North India. It is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and green peas (matar) in a tomato-based curry.

Here is a simple 
Matar Paneer recipe to make  at home:


Ingredients :
  • 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, grated or finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, grated or finely chopped
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped for garnishing
Cooking Method :
  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  2. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add grated ginger and garlic, and chopped green chilies (if using). Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  6. Add green peas and paneer cubes. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add water and salt to taste. Mix well and cover the pan. Cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the curry thickens and the peas are cooked.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with naan, roti, or rice.
